Success - is it really what you think it is?

Success by definition is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. 

 The question is, by who’s perspective? In today’s world of social media influences coupled with the need to feel validated, maybe success has been misunderstood. 

 Celebrities coin the term “successful” by way of images of money, power, popularity and fame. But are those truly the keys to success? 

 People choose to mold their image of success around what the next person is doing that just received 100 likes on Facebook. 

 ...if you start thinking about it, do you consider yourself a success? From who's perspective? To what degree? 

 I feel that once you have come to a place where you have found a purpose, whether it be a mom of three, such as myself or a public speaker motivating and enriching positivity, THAT's when you take the necessary steps to embody that purpose! Why not master that purpose you ask? Because maybe success doesn't have an end; maybe success is more of a moving target vs. a finish line. 

 Why limit yourself to one single., solitary success when you can accomplish your successes daily and in multiple facets? (I know, mind-blowing!)

 When I look at my life and incorporate the word "success", I often feel like those two don't co-exist according to the world's perspective. Hey, I'm human and I'm here to be honest and transparent... maybe a few of you can relate?

 Now if I look at my life, inject the word "success" and empower myself to view my life from a perspective of a simple definition - the accomplishment of.. a purpose, then I must admit to myself that I have many successes to be proud of and many success stories to share. As a woman, I have successfully managed to maintain a sense of class, poise and integrity. As a mother, I have had much success in raising 2.5 young adults (the.5 is still in training). Those are just two of the success hats I wear! 

 I hope this post has inspired you to not only give you a better perspective of success in your life, but to encourage you to reach for your goals and achieve your purpose!

 Now, don't stop where you are, go out and continue being the most successful YOU - you can be!

In a world filled with blue jeans, tank tops and flip flops, where do heels or dresses fit in?  It seems these days, the theme to all events, moments shared and memories is comfort and convenience.  Going to dinner? Throw on some jeans and a tee. Attending a party? This thing is HEAVY out here folks...

Going through some major emotions today friends! Is it just me or do we absolutely see a shifting in the world that might not be so good? From the school shootings that seemed to occur weekly to the horrific volcanic activity knocking out entire towns to the sad and awful truths of the increase in suicide... It's HEAVY out here, HEAVY . We walk in our lives daily worrying about what we are cooking for dinner and not being grateful that we have food on hand to cook. We are frustrated about the little things our children might do or haven't done while others are forced to bury theirs due to ignorance and lack. We judge others on their appearance since social media makes it so easy to become a bully; meanwhile depression is hitting hard and folks you'd never imagine could, are taking their own lives.  When will we get it? On a Serious Note

Today I was compelled to communicate with my high school daughter on numerous occasions. Today I felt scared, worried, unsure and saddened by the current events taking place in our Nation. Today I genuinely wept for mothers and fathers I don't even know. I wept for sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, friends and classmates. Today I just wanted to hold my entire family and tell them it was going to be alright. It's one thing to have a general fear of the possibility of danger or more so, of the unknown. It's another when you genuinely have a growing anxiety over sending your kids to school.
